Groundhog Day: The Musical

In 2012 I began working with director Matthew Warchus and composer Tim Minchin on a stage musical version of the movie Groundhog Day. We met, fell in love, and decided on a handshake to build the best, most creative, most soulful, honest, and exciting adaptation we could without interference from money people or market forces. We wanted to create a piece that was at least an equal to the movie, was respectful to the movie’s creators and audience, and if anything would further the world’s involvement with its themes.

Together and with the combined efforts of amazing people working at the top of their game we feel that we succeeded in making the musical of our dreams.

In 2016 Groundhog Day, The Musical opened at the Old Vic Theater in London to rave reviews, ultimately receiving the Olivier Award for best new musical.

In 2017 it opened at the August Wilson Theater on Broadway to rave reviews, garnering seven Tony nominations.
